About the Role

Calgary, AB part time regular (30 hrs /week) $47,999 to $59,032

Carya is searching for a Family Counsellor to join our awesome team known for clinical excellence to engage individuals in

creating change in their lives and communities.

Reporting to the Clinical Supervisor, this individual will work with individuals and their families to discover their full

potential and build flourishing relationships with their families and community. Key responsibilities include:

What You’ll Do
Our strength is our people, who together with their diverse backgrounds create a workplace where excellence is valued and the

atmosphere is both collaborative and forward moving. Presently we are looking for an experience counsellor to engage children,

youth, families and older adults in creating change in their lives and communities.

Working from a trauma informed, strengths-based approach, your counselling strategies empower others and build resilience. You will

develop and evaluate service goal plans, maintain clinical records and reporting requirements. Additionally, you will support with

community referrals and system navigation to initiate other actions as required. An understanding of attachment, family system

approach, and natural supports is an asset.

While this position will be focused on providing one-on-one brief counselling, facilitating groups may be required on a weekly basis.

Evening work as well as a flexible schedule is expected.

What You Bring 

Master’s degree in Social Work (Clinical Focus), Clinical Psychology, or Counselling or related field required. As well as current
registration with a regulatory body – ACSW, CAP or CCPA 

A passion for working to create change with people from across the life span 
Preferably, 3 – 5 years in a clinical setting, providing counselling in brief solution focused therapy, with families and

individuals.

Training and experience in treatment options such as CBT, attachment, family systems therapy, narrative therapy, and
trauma modalities is an asset. 

Takes a posture of cultural humility in working with diverse populations; experience with Indigenous and/or immigrant
families is an asset 

Ability to provide counselling in more than one language is an asset 
Great team orientation and collaboration skills 
Ability to work one or two evenings a week 
Skilled in business applications and virtual platforms (MS Word, Teams, Zoom, Penelope etc.) 
Excellent oral and written communication skills 
Completion of Natural Supports Framework training is an asset 
Certification with the Alberta Family wellness Initiative’s Core Brain Story 
Ability to manage their own schedule.

Current registration in a good standing with a relevant professional regulatory body, as well as all necessary security clearances is

required.

Applicants are encouraged to present with a current Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Review and a Child Intervention

Record Check.

The Family Counsellor will receive a comprehensive total compensation package including:

  • Annual salary of $47,999 to $59,032 per annum
  • Employer paid premiums for extended health benefits and 50/50 share of dental premiums
  • Up to 7% RRSP matching
  • Annual Health Spending Account
  • 12 paid vacation days pro-rated to start date and eligible for use in the first year of employment
  • Monthly Personal Time Off (PTO) day
  • Paid office closure days between Christmas and New Year and National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
