Job Description

Dr. Omid Akbari is seeking a Research Lab Technician I to join his laboratory. The focus of his lab is is to characterize and define acquired and innate immune response at mucosal surfaces such as lung and gut; investigate the mechanisms underlying the regulation of those responses; explore the mechanisms by which those responses contribute to inflammatory, allergic diseases and asthma; and determine means by which those responses can be specifically manipulated. The job responsibilities include:

  • Conducts research experiments in accordance with laboratory and safety protocols.
  • Arrange and assemble laboratory reagents, glassware, and equipment for use.
  • Maintains and calibrates laboratory equipment.
  • Maintains accurate laboratory records, stocks and maintains laboratory supplies
  • Practice basic laboratory safety and provides general laboratory assistance to support research activities.
  • Performs assignments which are non-routine and vary in complexity with minimal direction.
  • Complies data and computes results for a variety of research procedures, tests and techniques

The hourly rate range for this position is $20.48 - $24.00.
