The context:
As Unilever Beauty & Wellbeing continues to build a beauty culture, it’s critical to have an Insights lead in Canada who understands the consumer, the market dynamics, and the retail landscape. This leader will represent the dynamic voice of the consumer and bring an expert voice to the Insights function.
Purpose of the role:
We are looking for a strategic and entrepreneurial Insights Lead who loves bringing together the different pieces of data and insight that bring clarity to key business questions and help the team make better business decisions. The key objectives of this role are i) to represent the consumer, solve business issues, and help find opportunities for growth in Canada and ii) to be an integral part of the Dove Masterbrand team who deeply understands the consumer and can bring that empathy to Engagement insights that build brand equity and strengthen the brand’s purpose.

Who You Are & What You’ll Do- Leadership mentality – this is a small function in Canada that needs a strong leader
- Skilled and experienced research lead who knows how to devise and prioritize a consumer learning plan. Represents and elevates the CMI function in the org.
- Solid foundation in research fundamentals, i.e. ad pre-testing, BASES concept and product testing, custom research, qual learnings, quant studies, shopper insights. Additionally able to evaluate new methodologies with a keen eye
- Equally experienced in leveraging syndicated data, i.e., Nielsen MarketTrack, Homescan, Numerator HH panel, Customer data, Brand Power data
- Comfortable in the ambiguous, using data to get to clear answers
- Resourceful researcher who is comfortable integrating multi-stream data to bring together a clear POV
- Future focused – aggregating data sources to show the business where the puck is headed, i.e. identifies the white spaces and mines for opportunities
- Adept networker who can develop and maintain relationships and leverage resources and learning across multiple functions including; CMI, Brand teams, Customer Strategy, Global teams, agency partners, R&D
- Can explain research results to the business and bring the ‘so what’
- Exhibit strong business acumen in understanding the Beauty & Wellness space and proactively identify growth opportunities
What You’ll Need To Succeed
- Undergraduate degree required. Advanced degree in Marketing, Marketing Research, Analytics, Economics or Business welcomed
- Demonstrated high performance, 7+ years of relevant experience (such as client service, consulting, market research) required
- Experience working with and analyzing data from Nielsen, IRI, and Numerator (both scanning and panel)
- Familiarity with mix development research methodologies, i.e. BASES testing, ad pre-testing, custom research, qual and quant studies
- Experience managing stakeholders and business partners across functions
- Good Project Management skills in prioritizing multiple tasks
- Demonstrate ability to think through problems and provide clear logic
- Provide clear presentation of information (reports, tools, and summaries)
