Role Description
Our Justride platform stands at the forefront of streamlining payments, seamlessly handling credit card transactions across our applications. Additionally, our on-board readers are adept at recognizing contactless bank cards, offering travellers a smooth tap-and-ride journey.
In the role of Principal Engineer, you will be entrusted with the helm of design, development, and delivery for our payment processing systems. Your profound expertise will guarantee the efficient and secure management of every transaction, powering journeys for the millions of passengers relying on our platform.
Location: This role is available in a remote model for EU-based candidates.
Key Responsibilities
Setting the technical strategy for payments at Masabi, creating architecture and solving problems for the long-term business through best practice approaches to operational excellence, rapid time-to-market delivery, and an economical total cost of ownership
Driving successful delivery of the payment team’s products across Masabi and with external partners, designing solutions, coordinating development, identifying and resolving issues and arbitrating disputes
Collaborating closely with other engineering teams to ensure coherent integration of payment systems with other applications
Using your deep understanding of business drivers that make products successful to influence product decisions and build systems that anticipate and enable change, liaising with product managers to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements
Representing the payments area in Architecture Group meetings, participating in setting and improving best practices/standards, continuously driving improvements in tooling, design and innovation for Engineering across Masabi
Becoming a mentor and guide to other members of the payments team, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning, engaging in code and design reviews to maintain high standards of quality and reliability
About You
Extensive experience in payment systems engineering with a deep understanding of payment gateways, processing and security standards
Proven track record in designing, developing, testing, deploying and maintaining high-performance payment processing systems
Great knowledge of industry best practices for secure transaction processing and of the implementation of these standards
Proficiency in modern programming languages and techniques
Passionate about technology and customer experiences
Must be approachable, patient and an excellent communicator, a team player
Experience taking a leading role in delivering multiple complex and innovative solutions
Flexible to changing priorities in a fast-paced delivery environment
Know when to escalate, when to apply the brakes, and which battles are worth engaging in
You are a pragmatic problem solver. You apply judgement and experience to balance trade-offs between competing interests. You simplify processes and technologies while advocating a long-term view
Comfortable presenting and knowledge sharing with both technical and non-technical audiences
Proven evangelism of professional software engineering practices and best practices for the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing and operations
