About the Role

Reporting to the VP, HRBP English Language Learning (ELL) the Manager, HRBP will support our business leaders with the execution of the people plan.

The role will be responsible for cultivating strong relationships with global leaders to support and anticipate needs of Product team. Also, you will be leading the integration of our recent acquisition and supporting the business leaders to ensure the synergies as expected. You will be operating as a change agent on culture and driver of key people initiatives, whilst managing the delivery of HR annual processes and employee relations cases as they arise.

The role will work in partnership with the VP Human Resources for ELL & HR teams (CoEs, Talent Acquisition and HR Ops) to build organisational alignment and capability through the delivery of targeted people programs and initiatives that empowers top line growth for Pearson.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced HR generalist to influence, shape and make real change creating the most engaging and compelling employee experience for our people

We are flexible where this role can be located within Europe (fully remote or hybrid to a local office). There would be occasional travel required to Romania every 2-3 months.

Key Responsibilities include (nut not limited to):

Employee Relations & Compliance

  • Consult/coach with staff and managers regarding employee relations issues and initiate action plans to address and resolve issues.
  • Escalate complex issues to Director HRBP or VP HRBP

Leadership Coaching

  • Play an active role in the talent review & talent development programs.
  • Engage with leadership to understand the holistic opportunities of growth and development within the organization or business area.
  • Use data (new hire, exit, engagement, leadership assessments) to identify key areas of development and create development plans to support leaders/leadership teams.
  • Implement succession plans and ensure key talent has a development plan to focus on growth and retention.

M&A Integration

  • Supporting the VP of HR to implement the HR Integration Plan for acquisitions in our division.
  • Engage with leadership teams to ensure the integration of both companies
  • Support the VP of HR to identifying the best practices to create the global framework for future M&As.

Workforce Planning & HR Strategy

  • Work closely with management on staffing and promotion needs during the annual compensation review and AOP budgeting process.
  • Oversee and ensure workforce/staffing changes (including internal hires, promotions, etc.) are within the process guidelines and align to the overall workforce direction of the business unit.
  • Understand skills and capabilities gaps for future workforce and work with management on recruitment or training & development to meet business objectives with staff/employees.
  • Ensure a strong DE&I agenda in collaboration with the DE&I COE and ensure the business unit has clear goals to increase diverse representation and create an inclusive culture.
  • Use data to make informed decisions on trends in the organization and proactively drives initiatives that will address the needs of the people based on data collected.

About you

The ideal candidate would be experienced in a professional Services, technology companies or Corporate Functions environment and be confident, creative, yet commercial in their thinking.

We also require high proficiency in English and Spanish with Portuguese as a plus.

Your Core Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability and advanced experience with the Microsoft suite of tools including Teams, Office etc. As well as advanced experience with reporting tools, excel, database systems and HRIS systems.
  • Experience in working within a complex global matrix organisation and business area
  • Successful track record as a HR Generalist supporting leaders at multiple levels within an organization executing against their people plan.
  • Strong communication, Influencing and coaching experience at senior levels regarding critical HR issues
  • Expertise on M&A, Change management and Integration process.
  • Expertise on being part of agile transformation process.
  • Confidentially and effective use of data to provide insights that drive the strategic people plan
