About the role and your responsibilities:

As the Ranger Team Leader, you will be responsible for managing the PV Mallacoota office and depot facilities and will supervise a small team of District operations and fire recovery staff. Note: due to some ongoing position vacancies within the team, it is anticipated that the successful candidate will be required to undertake some higher duties for the management of the Gabo Island work centre and associated team of light station caretakers.

You will oversee the delivery of park cleaning and maintenance services while support the planning and delivery of fire and flood recovery programs, including the reconstruction of built assets and the conservation of significant natural and cultural values. You will develop and maintain strong relationships with other government agencies, Traditional Owners, and community-based business and tourism groups.

We're looking for someone with:

  • A tertiary qualification in conservation / natural resource management is highly desirable
  • Experience in project management
  • Experience working in remote natural settings and 4WD operation
  • A Coxswain 1NC or significant maritime experience is highly desirable
  • General Fire Fighter qualification or experience in fire and emergency response is highly desirable
