Business Development Representative (BDR)

The trucking and logistics industry provides the backbone of the economy. But the payments infrastructure on which it runs is broken. For the hard-working men and women of this sector, the existing suite of payment tools is outdated, difficult to use, prone to fraud, and saddled with shady fee structures. The incumbent players in this space often overlook the economic and practical needs of this user base.

We're changing that. RoadFlex is building Stripe for Transportation — modernizing the payments infrastructure for trucking and logistics. Supply chains rely on the timely movement of capital to function efficiently. Our end game is a world in which that capital movement occurs fairly, smoothly, and without delay. As we pursue that end game, we aim to center our customers in every way — offering them world-class customer experience and building products that work with and around the unique constraints of their daily lives. The Role

The BDR is a key member of the RoadFlex team, instrumental in developing, executing, and managing engagement strategies with potential customers.

As one of first sales hires, you will roll up your sleeves to do the critical work of selling Roadflex. RoadFlex is built to help businesses with fleets save time and money. You will identify, develop, and build relationships with prospective clients. You’ll bring the ‘voice of the customer’ to the forefront of our product development and assist with improving our sales strategy. Your contributions will directly drive revenue for RoadFlex while enabling the long term success of our future sales team.

What you’ll do

  • Become the RoadFlex expert and educate our customers on best practices
  • Drive revenue for RoadFlex through consultative, customer-first, selling
  • Help execute, structure and create playbooks for the sales organization
  • Develop a sales pipeline through strategic outbound prospecting and inbound leads
  • Articulate the RoadFlex value proposition to qualified decision makers, finance teams, and C-level executives
  • Share customer feedback with RoadFlex colleagues in product, finance, and risk to improve the user experience
  • Achieve and exceed sales targets and projected revenue goals
  • Provide input into the sales organization strategy to help us scale exponentially
  • Proactively develop recommendations to improve and optimize our sales engine

Your background

  • 2+ years of professional experience in a business development role at a technology startup or Fleet related company
  • Team Player, you care about the people you work with and always look for ways to help those around you succeed
  • Ability to identify and engage decision makers within a prospective client organization
  • Capable of demonstrating value and handling objections related to product or industry
  • Comfortable performing fast-paced, transactional, outbound and inbound sales
  • Proven track record at meeting and exceeding sales quotas
  • Strong sales skills: you can generate leads, prospect, qualify, demonstrate, negotiate, and close deals
  • Willingness to build the ship and sail it at the same time as one of our first sales hires
  • Positive attitude with a focus on having a growth mindset
  • Bonus: Experience with financial products and services a plus
  • Bonus: Experience working with logistics / trucking companies
