We are currently sourcing an Associate Director of Manufacturing to join our high performing diverse, extended leadership team, in AbbVie Westport. In this high-profile role, you will be responsible for the strategy, planning, and performance of all aspects of planning, operations, packaging, personnel within the Manufacturing Department to ensure that cost, compliance – FDA, HPRA, EPA, Safety, and customer requirements are met. Your role will also provide support to the Director of Operations in achieving the overall business goals and objectives for the Westport site.

Reporting to the Director of Operations you will have the following key responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver LRP for business unit in conjunction with Director of Operations.
  • Develop the Manufacturing Department to a level where all members are working towards common goals to deliver high levels of engagement and performance.
  • Manage New Product Introduction and implementation programs / OPEX projects.
  • Build strategic partnerships to further departmental and organizational objectives.
  • Directs and controls the activities, headcount management, capacity planning and budget of manufacturing area.
  • Organize and lead, as appropriate, cross-functional and departmental plans and programs to improve the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the manufacturing department.
  • Interacts internally and externally with executive level management, outside regulatory agencies, customers, vendors and/or suppliers.
  • Maximize the potential of all personnel, by successful career development planning by encouraging an atmosphere of involvement, open communication and effective teamwork.
  • Lead and motivate the employees through effective communication and by providing direction and feedback to Supervisors, Technicians and support personnel.
  • Lead change management activities to support the business and employees
  • Encourage and reward improvement ideas and results via formal and informal mechanisms.
  • Provide Leadership at site meetings including Tiered OPEX Meetings, Senior Management Meetings

For this role, you will have:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a Relevant Discipline (Technical Qualification in Engineering, Science, Technology is a distinct advantage)
  • Formal qualification in Project Management would be advantageous, but not essential

Experience:

  • Extensive experience (8+ years) in manufacturing, supply chain management, engineering, and/or process/product development.
  • 2-5 Years + People Leadership.
  • Experience in Aseptic Processing.
  • Proven track record in planning and executing projects.
  • Proven track record in leading cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in influencing peers in other organizations and senior management.
