The Head of Operations & Maintenance Position

Sunnova Energy is searching for a Head of Operations & Maintenance. Our ambitious team is building a service organization in order to provider clean, affordable and reliable energy to consumers. As Head of Operations & Maintenance, you’ll play an essential role in the expansion of the company in Europe.
The Head of Operations & Maintenance is responsible for the performance and maintenance operations of solar, storage, heat pumps, ev chargers, and other renewable energy equipment in the company’s fleet. The Head of Operations & Maintenance manages the back-office operations that provides support to Sunnova’s internal technicians, third-party service providers, installation partners and customers, and an internal team of service technicians in performance of asset management activities. The leader is responsible for a regional footprint for the field maintenance function and is accountable for completion of all field service work orders according to established SLAs, goals, and metrics. Additionally, the Head of Operations & Maintenance is responsible for costs, revenues, quality, inventory, and safe operations. The position will provide direct guidance and oversee the day-to-day operations of field service including the internal maintenance team.

Head of Operations & Maintenance Responsibilities

  • Establishes systems, policies and procedures for asset management including failure detection, performance optimization and all maintenance services
  • Develops forecasts, metrics and KPIs, monitors and trends results, and takes actions to correct; improves execution and future performance
  • Provides direct, hands-on leadership, oversight, and execution of maintenance service activities across the region
  • Identifies and implements service deflection strategies to continually lower service costs, while improving fleet performance
  • Oversees the physical health of all company assets and maintains optimal performance
  • Oversees the operations of Operations Command Center to ensure service requests are researched, vetted, dispatched, processed, and closed timely.
  • Defines processes and procedures for implementation of all service procedures including detection, remote troubleshooting, work order management and truck rolls to customer sites
  • Oversees the management and execution of all customer warranty and insurance claims
  • Develops, manages, and maintains maintenance relationships with our external service vendors
  • Ensures effective and compliant operations in accordance with EU-OSHA regulations, environmental regulations, and local requirements; acquires and maintains permits and certifications as necessary
  • Coordinates materials, inventory, fleet vehicles, technicians, and maintenance requirements; achieves service-level targets for system repairs and installs
  • Measures maintenance service activities and prepares reports including analytics and insights into actual and expected performance; identifies issues and opportunities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in German and English;
  • Very strong organization and attention to detail
  • Aptitude to effectively communicate, both verbal and written, with peers, senior management, and partners
  • Strong analytical skills complimenting a desire to understand the “why” behind the numbers.
  • A sound understanding of how to use and interpret data in problem solving, performance improvement and strategic planning.
  • Desire to extend a culture of accountability, professionalism, and care.
  • Ability to effectively prepare and summarize results into an executive summary and provide recommendations
  • Knowledge and capability to use the tools, processes, and best practices that support forecasts to drive business decisions and business planning
  • Eagerness to take ownership of responsibilities
  • Proven ability to work under pressure, organize, manage, and prioritize multiple deliverables

Working Conditions
