AGS is seeking expressions of interest for legal support roles in our Melbourne office.

About these roles
The Dispute Resolution practice group provides specialist expertise in resolving and managing disputes across many areas of law. It acts for regulatory agencies in enforcing the law, protects sensitive information from disclosure, defends government decisions and responds to claims made against the Commonwealth. It is often involved in the largest and most sensitive matters affecting the Australian Government.
In these roles you will:
- take an active role in assisting our lawyers and other legal support staff to deliver a high standard of legal services to our clients
- assist with the preparation of court and tribunal documents and other correspondence
- maintain legal files and assist with client enquiries
- manage lawyers’ diaries and travel
- ensure administrative procedures such as client billing and reporting comply with relevant AGS requirements.
About you
The successful candidate/s will ideally have:
- some legal support experience is an advantage for the APS3 Legal Administrative Assistant role/s, but not essential
- at least 2 years’ legal assistant experience for the APS4 Legal Assistant role/s
- a genuine commitment to client service and a professional approach
- good attention to detail and organisational skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks at once
- good judgement and the ability and willingness to take on a variety of tasks
- well-developed written and oral communication skills
- an interest in undertaking training and development to learn new skills
- good knowledge of common software applications (e.g. Word, Outlook, Adobe)
- the ability to be flexible and work as part of a team.
