Our mission at Oura is to empower every person to own their inner potential. Our award-winning products, the Oura Ring and its accompanying app, helps our global community gain a deeper understanding of their health, lifestyle, and sleep quality, which we believe are foundational to living a healthy, fulfilled life.

We’re seeking an experienced Engineer Manager to join our growing Software engineering organization in Finland. We’re made up of a set of cross-functional squads, each with a specific area of ownership across the Oura product. You will manage a team of engineers, and you’ll take great pride in coaching and guiding engineers through their careers. You’ll be responsible for hiring great talent and building teams and will contribute to organizational development as we continue to scale.

What you’ll do:
Be part of a revenue-generating organization with a charter to drive forward Oura’s subscription business and make Oura's membership experience better every day for our users. We build comprehensive, flexible membership solutions and a platinum set of self-serving tools to support Oura members.
You and your team own the API engine that powers Oura’s membership experience. Your team is responsible for the design and implementation of secure, scalable, performant APIs that manage the Oura membership lifecycle - create, update, cancel, and renew Oura membership. You will also collaborate with Product and lead the engineering team to build various membership offerings to drive new membership acquisition.
We want to become a personalized health companion for our members, and you will contribute to that vision by building intuitive, comprehensive self-serving functionalities for our returning users.
Collaborate with Product, Marketing, Security, TPM, and engineering leaders across Oura to deliver critical business initiatives.
Mentor your reports to develop their skills and foster their professional growth.
Provide technical leadership to your team - while you may no longer write code, you are still deeply technical and can hold your ground during technical discussions. You can evaluate the trade-off and make sound technical decisions that impact the project.
Champion engineering excellence, establish key metrics, and drive continuous operational improvements.

Here are the qualities we are looking for, but don't worry too much if you don't fill in all the requirements:

A doer who enjoys working in a start-up environment - mission-driven, action-orientated, adaptable, comfortable with ambiguity
Have managed a diverse team of 6+ highly performing software engineers
Well-versed in the API design principles for modern web applications and can build APIs that are intuitive, secure, testable, performant, and extensible.
Have an operational excellence mindset and can guide the team in building systems with actionable metrics, error messages, and logging messages.
Strong communication and project management skills. Able to drive cross-functional projects from inception to production launch.
Strong people management skills. You will give credits where they are due, and do not hesitate to provide constructive feedback. You are open to feedback and have a growth mindset.
Able to maintain a good work-life balance both for yourself and your team. You understand the significance of promoting well-being, managing workload, and creating an environment that supports a healthy balance between work responsibilities and personal life.
